Tahoma Street Residence

Chicago, IL

This addition to a 1940’s Georgian of a new kitchen, master suite and deck complete with outdoor fireplace, all locate on the first floor to address accessibility issues expected in coming years. An open plan was established in existing portions of the interior where a new family and dining room layout, seamlessly tying them in to new rooms so that daily items needed by our client reside on accessible floor plain. The master bedroom and kitchen massing each with their own cathedral ceiling and clerestory windows define a green roof space shared by two guest bedrooms above. The stucco color was derived from the existing brick, but tucks behind or in front of the existing exterior walls establishing a new balance between existing and new.
